What is Hemp-Derived Delta 9 THC?

The definition of hemp doesn’t include marijuana — which is illegal cannabis with over 0.3% THC. Therefore, when derived from hemp as opposed to marijuana, delta 9 is considered legal — as are the new THC gummies. That is, if they contain less than 0.3% delta 9 THC.
The Farm Bill authorized the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate CBD in food products such as these gummies. While THC is legal federally (under those specific requirements), there’s an issue with using CBD as food or dietary supplement because CBD is an approved epilepsy drug.
