In the Buckeye state, a hemp product means “any product, containing a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than three-tenths of a percent, that is made with hemp.” Furthermore, “hemp product” includes hemp buds, flowers, cigarettes, cigars, shredded hemp, cosmetics, personal care products, dietary supplements or food intended for animal or human consumption, cloth, cordage, fiber, fuel, paint, paper, particleboard, and any other product containing one or more cannabinoids derived from hemp, including cannabidiol.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy issued an update on its previous position regarding the sales of hemp CBD products in medical dispensaries. The update is based on the new Ohio law (SB 57) that excluded hemp with a THC concentration of no more than 0.3% from the definition of marijuana. According to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, “hemp products, including hemp-derived CBD (cannabidiol), can now be sold outside of a licensed medical marijuana dispensary.”

The Ohio Department of Agriculture is in charge of issuing cultivation licenses, which in this state, last up to three years before requiring renewal. The state kept the application window open until May 1 to accommodate the 2020 growing season.
