HHC Flower in Oregon: Is It Legal & Where to Buy in 2022

HHC Flower Oregon

Unlike other states, Oregon addressed the legality of hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids, including HHC. If you’ve been meaning to try HHC flower in the Beaver State, this article discusses current laws and regulations, as well as the best place to buy quality CBD flower. Let’s dive in.

Is HHC Flower Legal in Oregon?

HHC flower is illegal in Oregon.

The most recent update by the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) states that novel artificially derived cannabinoids like HHC (made through hydrogenation) are already “generally prohibited” under state law

In addition, the update states that the sale of compounds like HHC “will continue to be prohibited because they are impairing or intoxicating.” And as such, they don’t comply with the requirements of the new regulations.

In a nutshell, Oregon’s new law allows the sale of “artificially derived cannabinoids” in the state only if they (among other things):

  • Are not impairing or intoxicating
  • Are not a controlled substance under state law
  • Are not intended for human inhalation, and
  • Are a compound that naturally occurs in the cannabis plant (hemp and marijuana)

Therefore, cannabinoids that are intoxicating and artificially made (specifically delta 8) are prohibited for sale inside and outside the OLCC market, starting July 1, 2022.

Before this update was issued, Oregon adopted HB 3000, which considers both hemp-derived and marijuana-derived products containing “intoxicating cannabinoids” as Adult-Use Cannabis Items.

What is HHC Flower?

HHC flower is a CBD flower sprayed with tested HHC isolate.

Joining the group of hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids, HHC is naturally found in the plant in minuscule amounts. In large quantities, it’s created through hydrogenation in a lab setting. This compound is known as the love child of delta 9 and delta 8 because it’s slightly less intoxicating than delta 9 and more relaxing like delta 8.

We need more evidence on the therapeutic benefits of HHC, but some animal studies show that it can potentially help with chronic pain, inflammation, nausea, and anxiety.
