Can You Buy HHC Flower in Maryland? Laws & Regulations 2022

HHC Flower in Maryland

Maryland’s relationship with cannabis is not ideal, but it’s going in the right direction. The state is making efforts to legalize cannabis for recreational purposes and is proposing bills that would regulate products containing intoxicating cannabinoids derived from hemp, like delta 8 and delta 9

What does this mean for HHC? Can you buy HHC flower in Maryland? Let’s take a look.

Is HHC Flower Legal in Maryland?

HHC flower is legal in Maryland. The state hasn’t explicitly banned the sale and possession of this cannabinoid.

Maryland lawmakers have introduced emergency legislation to regulate hemp-derived products. If passed, Senate Bill 0788 will ban plants with over 0.3% delta 8 and update the definition of “hemp product.” The new definition will exclude products with a delta 9 and delta 8 concentration of over 0.3% and, instead, include it in the definition of marijuana.

This emergency measure doesn’t encompass hemp-derived HHC, so for now, this cannabinoid remains legal (but unregulated) in Maryland. The state allows the nationwide distribution and processing of hemp and hemp-derived products with less than 0.3% delta 9 by weight.

What is HHC Flower?

Nature doesn’t produce CBD flower with high levels of HHC. So, makers take regular CBD flower rich in cannabinoids and terpenes and spray it evenly with HHC oil. This cannabinoid is about 80% the potency of delta 9 and exhibits euphoric and uplifting effects.

Hexahydrocannabinol is a hemp cannabinoid that the plant produces in tiny amounts. It can be beneficial for managing chronic pain, reducing inflammation, and promoting sleep. We need more research to confirm the benefits of this compound because all we have so far is anecdotal or comes from animal studies.
