Massachusetts is one of the states that is strictly following the FDA’s guidelines on the manufacture and sale of hemp CBD products.
After winning approval by the USDA on its hemp plan, Massachusetts fully implemented federal laws and regulations. Namely, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released an interim rule with the requirement for total THC testing of hemp plants. Massachusetts’s production plan states, “the testing methodology must consider the potential conversion of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THC-A) in hemp into THC and the test result measures total available THC derived from the sum of the THC and THC-A content.” This means that the THC levels of a hemp crop must not exceed 0.3% total THC, on a dry weight basis. Otherwise, the crop is considered hot and must be destroyed [1].
