5 Delicious THCa Flower Recipes That Guarantee A Good Time

5 Delicious THCa Flower Recipes That Guarantee A Good Time

Not a smoker? You can consume high THCa flower through delicious recipes and enjoy its wonderful benefits while eliminating the risks of smoking.

Cooking with THCa flower is easier than you think, but having a few tricks up your sleeve won’t hurt. This article presents five delicious recipes you can make today using our high THCa flower and have heaps of fun while doing it.

How to Decarboxylate High THCa Flower

Before you use freshly ground THCa flower in your cannabis cooking, you need to decarboxylate it.

Decarboxylation is a chemical process that involves heating the THCa flower to activate the THC. You can use chopped, un-decarbed THCa flower in your recipes and enjoy the effects of THC’s precursor, tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCa). But if you want a psychoactive experience, you need decarboxylated cannabis.

The best temperature to decarb cannabis while preserving the beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes is 230-250°F.

Here is how it’s done:

  1. Preheat the oven to 240°F.
  2. Using a kitchen knife, chop the THCa hemp flower into tiny chunks. You can use gloves and do this by hand or use a grinder and grind the THCa flower to small chinks without turning it into a powder.
  3. Spread the chopped flower evenly on a baking sheet so the heat can work on every chunk. Another way of decarbing the flower is inside a mason jar, a method used to reduce the smell.
  4. Put the sheet in the oven and heat for 40 minutes.
  5. After 40 minutes, turn off the heat and remove the baking sheet or jar from the oven.
  6. The flower should look slightly toasted and have a golden brown color.

If you decide to grind the flower in a grinder and it turns into a fine powder, not all is lost. You can still decarb it at a lower temperature (220°F) and by watching it closely to avoid burning.

5 Delicious Sweet and Savory THCa Flower Recipes

Once the THCa hemp flower has been decarbed, it can be used as an ingredient for delicious, nutritious, sweet, and savory meals.

Here are a few easy-to-make recipes to get you started:

1. THCa Flower Guacamole

Want to add a THC twist to your regular guacamole recipe? The main ingredient of guacamole is avocado, a berry rich in healthy fats, making the ideal base to mix your THCa flower with. Our recipe is vegan-friendly and gluten-free.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados — peeled, halved, and mashed
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • ½ medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 small tomatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1-gram decarbed THCa hemp flower*

* You can use fresh, dried, undercarbed THCa flower for this recipe, but don’t expect too much of a psychoactive experience because the THC remains inactive.

Preparation

  • Step 1: Put the avocados in a bowl and mash them with a fork.
  • Step 2: Mix in the tomatoes, cayenne pepper, cilantro leaves, onion, garlic, lime juice, and salt.
  • Step 3: Top the mixture with decarbed and chopped THCa flower and stir to combine.
  • Step 4: Serve immediately, or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour before serving.

Serve this guac with tortilla chips and crackers, or spread it on toast. Refrigerate the rest in an airtight container. Cover the top with a thin layer of lime juice to keep it from turning brown, and enjoy it within the next two days.

2. THCa Flower Bacon

This juicy, greasy, and delicious THCa flower bacon recipe will help you prepare mouth-watering bacon while providing your morning THC dose. For this recipe, you can get our most potent strain Gary Payton THCa flower, at 29% total THC.

Ingredients

  • Decarboxylated THCa flower (1 gram)
  • Bacon
Preparation
  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to  275°F.
  • Step 2: Line a cookie sheet with foil and lay the bacon strips flat with no overlap.
  • Step 3: Sprinkle half of the decarbed THCa flower on the top of the bacon strips. You can use a salt shaker for better application.
  • Step 4: Bake for 10 minutes on one side and additional 10 minutes on the other side.
  • Step 5: Remove from the oven and enjoy.

You don’t need to grease the baking sheet because the bacon will provide all the grease necessary. You can use the leftover grease for cooking, store it in a storage container and butter your next meal.

3. THCa Flower French Toast

This THCa flower french toast is fluffy on the inside and crispy and golden brown on the outside. To make this recipe or other homemade edibles, you’ll first need to make cannabutter, coconut oil, or an olive oil infusion with your THCa flower (explained below). For the cooking of the toast, you’ll only need a frying pan.

For The Cannabutter

Ingredients

To infuse butter with high THCa flower, you’ll need:

  • ⅛ ounce of decarbed THCa flower
  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ cup of butter
Preparation
  • Step 1: Decarboxylate the THCa hemp flower using the instructions in the first section of this article.
  • Step 2: Melt ½ cup of butter and ½ cup of water at 150°F.
  • Step 3: Add the decarbed flower to the mix.
  • Step 4: Let simmer for three to four hours at 150 degrees.
  • Step 5: Let it cool and remove excess water.

Here’s how to calculate the percentage of THC you will get from a cannabis butter serving

Say you’ve bought an eighth (3.5 grams) of our Pineapple OG high THCa flower that comes at 24% THCa per 1 gram, and you want to use it to make cannabutter.

To determine the final dose, first, we need to calculate the total THC in 3.5 grams of this strain.

  • 3.5 x 0.24 = 0.84 grams X 1000mg = 840 mg THC per eighth

Next, we calculate the amount of THCa that will convert into THC during decarboxylation. Some estimates are that roughly 75-85% of the THCa will convert into THC [1].

  • 840mg x 0.75 = 630 mg of THC

After that, we calculate the extraction efficiency, or how much of the THC will be infused into the butter. Expert chemists can get up to 90% of the THC to stick during lab cannabis infusions, so we’re going to be a bit more modest and go with the lower estimate of 70%.

  • 630 x 0.70 = 441 mg of THC infused in the butter

This recipe requires a serving of a teaspoon of cannabutter per toast, which is 4.7 grams of butter per toast. One stick (½ cup) of butter equals 113 grams, which is 24 servings. So each serving will have approximately 19 mg of THC.

For the Toast

Ingredients
  • 4 slices of fresh or stale bread with a neutral flavor
  • ¼ cup milk; you can use low-fat
  • 1 egg, large
  • 2 teaspoons of THCa flower-infused butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg; optional
Preparation
  • Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients until well blended.
  • Step 2: Lightly grease a large skillet and preheat on medium heat.
  • Step 3: Dip each slice of bread in the mixture, make sure both sides are coated evenly.
  • Step 4: Cook the slices at 375°F for 2 minutes per side. The slices should get a nice light brown color.

For an enhanced flavor, top the French toast with maple syrup, sliced fruit, or jams and jellies of your preference. Enjoy!

4. THCa Flower Peanut Butter Cookies

5. THCa Flower Mint Tea

Is there a more relaxing way to end your day than by sitting in silence with a cup of THCa flower tea? This low-to-no calorie recipe makes an aromatic and flavorful THCa hemp flower tea that guarantees a restful night.

Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 1 tea bag or 1 teaspoon of mint tea (or any loose-leaf tea of your choice)
  • 1 gram of decarboxylated THCa flower (typically a medium-to-large-sized bud will do)
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • Honey, freshly squeezed lime juice honey, cinnamon sticks, milk, or sugar (optional)

Preparation

  • Step 1: Break up and decarboxylate the buds in advance (find instructions above)
  • Step 2: Mix the decarbed cannabis flower with the dried mint tea and place in a tea infuser.
  • Step 3: Place the tea infuser in a large mug. Boil the water and pour over the infuser.
  • Step 4: Allow to steep for 10 minutes. For a better infusion, add some milk to the tea.
  • Step 5: After steeping, remove the tea infuser and add honey or any desired sweetener.

Consume two hours before bedtime.

Dosing

If you are a beginner, don’t drink the entire cup of tea!

A 1-gram flower with 20% THCa will give you 200 mg THC. Around 75% of it will be transformed during decarboxylation, so that leaves you with roughly 150 grams of THCa in the decarbed flower.

Not all of the THC will be infused into the tea, so it’s difficult to calculate the total THC your tea will contain. Assume that 60% of the THC will be infused, which leaves you with 90 mg of THC in that cup.

If you can drink an entire cup in roughly 20 sips, this tea will give you 4.5 mg of THC per sip.

  • The starting dose of THC for a beginner is 2.5 to 5 mg. So, if you are new to cannabis, take one to two sips of the THCa-infused tea and refrigerate the rest.
  • A sufficient dose for moderate users is anywhere between 5 mg to 10 mg.
  • Seasoned users can have an enjoyable experience with 15 mg of THC and above.

Important: Treat the tea like an edible. If you’ve done everything right and the cannabis has been infused into the water properly, taking one to two sips will work. After consuming the tea, wait for an hour or an hour and a half for it to work before taking more.

You can replace the mint tea with any other recommended tea for nighttime, including chamomile, lavender, or lemon balm tea. The best strains to use for your tea are indica-dominant cannabis flowers high in myrcene and caryophyllene, like our Trufflez High THCa Flower.
