Environmental Crossover

Environmental crossover

A term that refers to the natural occurrence of the uncontrolled movement of a substance created during plant cultivation that’s carried out through the air to another nearby crop. The two biggest “offenders” of environmental crossover are pesticides and pollen because they travel through air so easily. When it comes to the hemp plant, this occurrence can reduce yields and cause the crops to fail regulatory requirements.

“The neighboring farmer used a pesticide airplane to spray his plants this weekend. It was a windy day, so the environmental crossover from his field introduced unwanted pesticides into my hemp flower.”

“I was trying to grow a unique hemp flower strain, but the environmental crossover from the pollen produced in the neighboring field wrecked it.”
