Ensemble effect

Ensemble effect

ɒnˈsɒmb(ə)l | Noun

A theory indicating the benefits of the combined effect of different cannabis compounds when working together. The ensemble effect implies that a cannabis product offers a greater effect when cannabinoids work in synergy rather than individually. For example, THC produces better outcomes when paired with CBD than by itself, and vice versa. The effect is stronger when terpenes are involved.

“I prefer full spectrum CBD oil over isolate because of the ensemble effect.”

“The budtender at my local shop advised me to go for the product that has terpenoids present to experience the ensemble effect and the plant’s benefits.“

Ensemble vs. Entourage

Some scientists suggest that using the term “ensemble” is more suitable than “entourage” because the latter implies that cannabis compounds support one leading component when working together. In contrast, the former one suggests that cannabinoids like CBD, THC, CBG, etc., as well as terpenoids, are all working together equally.
