The Nebraska Hemp Farming Act (LB 657), enacted in May 2019, removed hemp and hemp-derived cannabinoids from the definition of marijuana.

The bill allows “the possession, transportation, sale, and purchase of lawfully produced hemp products” for commercial purposes but doesn’t define the term “hemp products.”

The law defines, ‘hemp’ as “The plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, including the viable seeds of such plant and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”
